newyorker:

In this week’s issue, Sasha Frere-Jones writes about the darkest subgenre of heavy-metal music: black metal. Over a period of six years, the photographer Peter Beste documented the secretive, insular community of black-metal musicians and fans. Here’s a selection of his photos: http://nyr.kr/pfVFAY (read Frere-Jones’s piece here: http://nyr.kr/qcv406).

This side to music is fucked. Its all good embodying your genre, but some people take it too far. These photos and this journalist hasnt reported what the famous documentary saw in Norway and Finland, which was rape, murder and arson of innocents. The power of music goes beyond our ears.

Cool photos though! I guess this is the side of Black Metal which is more fun.
